Wow – Serena Williams is just mental.
She went a bit nuts last night during the final of the US Open after the umpire (correctly) called her for shouting out just as Samantha Stosur attempted to return a shot. Stosur wouldn’t have returned it, but it’s still not a nice thing to do and the umpire took the point Serena thought she had won and handed it straight to the Aussie. Well, the Williams have never lacked in fighting spirit and in doing so provoked Serena into the sort of lame tirade you’d expect from a hormonal teenager. She warned the umpire:
“If you ever see me walking down the hall, look the other way. You’re out of control, you’re out of control. You’re totally out of control. You’re a hater and you’re unattractive … inside. Who would do such a thing?”
“And I never complain,” she added rather hilariously, conveniently forgetting the 2 years of tennis probation she got for ripping a line judge to shreds at the 2009 US Open.
It’s all ok, though. Serena later explained her volley of abuse by saying “I don’t know. I was just in the zone.”
Yep, the bitch zone.
Watch it now before YouTube remove it. It’s worth watching the whole thing to get the context.
