On the face of it, this is arguably the least interesting clip that’s ever been posted on the blog and that’s saying something based on some of the stuff I’ve posed in the past. Stick with it though.
Basically it’s a bit of a brawl in the Top 14’s Basque derby between Biarritz and Bayonne. So far, so rugby’s version of handbags, but in the midst of it, watch out for the non-player swinging a few digs and eventually being thrown to the ground. That’s Biarritz captain, Imanol Harinordoquy’s dad, who wasn’t happy with the conduct of the Bayonne players and decided his fists would best express his sentiments.
Benjamin Boyet, the Bayonne player who eventually wrestled Monsieur Harinordoquy to the turf explained “I tackled him because he was attacking one of my team mates. I put him to the ground and Benoit August told me to stop, because it was Imanol’s father.” They’re a different kind of people down in the Basque Country. They’re more mental for a start.
