Frankly, we’re more than a little surprised Diego Maradona is still alive given all the drugs he hoovered up in the 90s. So it’s always good to celebrate the former best footballer in the world.
This morning he’s back in the news after having a mild dig at 73-year-old Giovanni Trapattoni. Maradona, now in charge of Al Wasi in Dubia, told The Irish Sun Trap is a a football dinosaur. Diego (51) believes AC Milan deserve credit for their appointment of the relatively youthful Massimiliano Allegri (44), saying: “Milan had the courage to invest in a young coach in a world which appears increasingly embalmed. In Italian football it is always the same faces. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone brought back an old timer like Trapattoni.”
Hands off our Trap, Diego. And, after seeing your roly-poly routine (after one of his players missed a goal chance), your own cred is in need of a bit of management.
AC Milan, meanwhile, take on Barcelona on Wednesday in a Champions League quarter-final first-leg, after Saturday’s 2-1 win over Roma. AC are 4/1 with Paddy Power for a home win against Lionel Messi and Co.
