Another Big Step Forward For Paddy Power’s Mobile App

Paddy Power's mobile chief takes a well-earned breather

It’s not all cocktail parties, hanging out with rock stars and headbanging for Paddy Power’s mobile team. Sometimes they also attend horse racing events — and it’s all in the name of research for you guys. It’s available on iPhone and Android.

Yes, in our never ending search for excellence, we here at Paddy Power constantly strive to provide you with the best service available. That’s why we’ve been working hard to make sure your mobile betting experience is hotter than Liz Hurley on a bed of lava gargling curry in a duffle coat.

Today we present Paddy Power’s mobile new smartphone app with some pretty sexy updated features. Let us run through the best bits with you. (Or download and update from the App Store).

On the Racing Homepage we have changed the structure of the menu. Now all the main horse racing headings (Today, Tomorrow, etc.) are located within a date selector at the top of the page. This will improve the speed which users can access/change menus and so reducing the number of taps required to get your bets on. American Racing, Special Bets, Daily Specials and Virtual Horse Racing are now all within the “More” tab. That’s the one with the great big + on it. “Try it — it’s freakin’ awesome,” Liz Hurley said.

Paddy Power is now the first bookmaker to offer Racing Post content on our own app. We love the Racing Post and it means you don’t have to just take our word on the form. This is similar to the content offered online and means our racecard will now include the following for every selection…

1: Horse Racecard Number, 2: Silk, 3: Name, 4: Price, 5: Short Blurb, 6: Trainer, 7: Short Form, 8: Age, 9: Jockey, 10: RP Star Rating, 11: Weight

All other markets, Place Only, Insurebet etc. are at the bottom of the racecard as normal.

In addition to the new racecard content you now also have access to full Racing Post form. You deserve it. This is available through an extra tab beside the racecard.

1: Horse number, 2: Silk, 3: Name, 4: Price and SP (Win or E/W), 5a: Race Date, 5b: Race Track, 5c: Race Distance and Going, 5d: Race Info, 5e: Race Result

  • Racing Post Logo To reinforce the fact that we are offering genuine RP content, we have also fit in a nice “Powered by Racing Post” logo above the selections. Trust us.
  • i Button By tapping the blue “i” button you can scroll through the details of the race. i.e. Race Info > Going > Class
  • The new Horse Racing Pages will be available on Android 2.3 and up, and iOS 5.0 and up. Any devices running older versions will not see the new overlay.

New Navigation Overlay

One of the absolute hottest features  available on every page throughout the app is the new Navigation Overlay. Jesus, it’s good. So good we gave it capital letters.

Home Provides a quick link to home
from every page of the app.

Favourites New home for the ‘My
Favourites’ menu which was located on
home page since January.

Promotions New home for the
‘Special Promotions’ menu which was
located on home page since January.

Football This provides quick links to
Football Home and coupons.

Racing This provides quick links to Racing Home, Next 5 Races and My Live
Races. Simple, eh? Took them ages to develop it too.

5: New Login Pop-up and Free Bet Display

When you now log into mobile, you will be greeted with a virtual kiss from Sharikra. Ok, so there’s a welcome message which displays your balance, any open free bets and provides an option to go straight to the deposit page. You will now also be able to see any free bets under your account balance.

Hide/Show Balance Option

Important this bit if you want to be discreet. You will also have the option to hide or show your balance when you are logged in. This is one by tapping the balance which will toggle between the below two views. Great if you want to show off what an amazing punter you are — less so if you’re on a run that’d make Wolves look like champs.

That’s all. Enjoy!
