DOWN BUT NOT OUT: Paul Lambert in his playing days at Celtic is on the verge of the Aston Villa job

Norwich have rejected Paul Lambert’s resignation request as the former Celtic midfielder is on the brink of taking over at
Aston Villa.

The 42-year-old guided Norwich to 12th in the Premier League in their first season back in the top flight since winning promotion from League One in 2010/11.

Meanwhile, Swansea have moved to fill the void left by Brendan Rodgers’ defection to Liverpool and are understood to be talking to Blackpool manager Ian Holloway.

Blackpool were relegated last season and lost out to West Ham if the League One play-offs at the end of this season.

Holloway heads Paddy Power’s online betting for next Swansea manager ahead of Gus Poyet and Davy Jones as the Swans look to come to terms with life without Rodgers.

West Brom are still managerless after Roy Hodgson’s left for England but former Shalke 04 manager Ralf Rangnick is now odds on
with Paddy Power to fill the role after holding talks with the midlands club.

Hodgson guided the Baggies away from relegation after being sacked by Liverpool late last season and consolidated their mid-divison status this year.
