Group B betting preview: Denmark v Germany Sunday 7.15

The Lowdown

Germany have been as impressive as expected winning both their opening group games. But the job is not yet complete and they could still be eliminated before the knock-out stage.

Denmark have to win by a few goals without conceding and Portugal have to beat the Dutch but stranger things have happened.

The Danes will need to betterPortugal’s result against Holland to ensure they qualify and their best hopes will rest on Nicklas Bendtner and his lucky pants!

Last time these two met in the European Championships was the 1992 final where Denmark famously overcame the odds and won 2-0.

Match Bet

Germany are odds on favourites for this contest at 7/10 with Paddy Power. Denmark are priced at 5/1 with the draw at 5/2.

The Germans have looked very good thus far and have every right to be odds on favourites against the Danes. But Denmark have surprised a lot of people, beating Holland 1-0 and then showing plenty of heart and spirit to come back to almost snatch a point against Portugal.

Germany know a point is enough to qualify top of Group B and a draw might be a smart bet at 5/2.

A correct score stab in the dark

Both sides have goals in them without a doubt and are dangerous going forward.

The form of Nicklas Bendtner is crucial as well as how well Denmark can defend.

The 1-1 draw is priced at 6/1 with Paddy Power but for the more optimistic punter it’s 14/1 to end 2-2.

Last time these two met in 2010 Germany were 2-0 up before Denmark fought back to earn a point.

A goalscorer bet to look out for

Thomas Muller was impressive as the Germans took apart the Dutch and will pose Denmark problems down the right flank. The 2012 World Cup Golden Boot winner is 8/1 to score first or 13/5 to score anytime.

Nicklas Bendtner is the biggest threat to the German back line and after his brace against Portugal will be full of confidence. Fingers crossed he’s wearing his Paddy Power pants as he’s 9/1 to score first or 3/1 anytime.

Something a bit random

Lets be a bit outrageous. Germany are a class outfit and should be winning this game but they know a point will see them top the group and they could take their foot off the gas.

Germany have also taken the lead in all of their qualifying games and opening Euro 2012 games.

Denmark know they need a result and showed plenty of spirit to come back against Portugal.

On that somewhat flawed logic half-time score Germany 1-0, full-time score 2-2 is 75/1. A half-time score of Germany 2-1, full-time score 2-2 is 125/1.

Might be worth a euro or two.

Robbie says

Germany should win the way they’ve played. They have been so strong. But stranger things have happened in football!
