Group C betting preview: Spain v Croatia, 7.45pm (ITV1 and RTE2)

The Lowdown

The final results of Group C will decide which two from Spain, Italy or Croatia go through to the quarter finals.

A 2-2 draw or higher here will see BOTH qualify regardless of what happens in the other game between Italy and Ireland.
It couldn’t possibly happen could it?

Match Bet

This Spanish side has lost none of its sparkle on the evidence so far and while they’re unlikely to be afforded the soft goals and acres of space they got against Ireland, they still look too good for the Croats. Slaven Bilic’s side are no back number though and will make Spain fight to the final whistle.

A goalscorer bet to look for

Mario Mandzukic has netted three times at Euro 2012 so far cannot be underestimated at 12/1 to get the first or more likely at 4/1 in the anytime goalscorer market. Spanish manager Del Bosque may leave naming his front man – if he decides to use one – until late on Monday but the feeling seems to be that now Fernando Torres has rediscovered his form he may start ahead of Cesc Fabregas as the target man.

Something a bit random

Luka Modric has dismissed claims of a Group C carve-up of ‘having no place in football’. Hmmm. A 2-2 draw is 4/1 with Paddy Power’s online betting.  The subsequent investigation that is sure to follow if it ends 2-2 will be priced later.
