Andy Murray is through to the Men’s quarter-finals at Wimbledon after beating Marin Cilic in straight sets 7-5, 6-2, 6-3.

The Scot reached the last eight for the fifth consecutive time despite another frustrating rain delay and will play either Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro or Spain’s David Ferrer.

French No 1 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga must be wishing he was in Murray’s shoes right now. He’s a set down against American opponent Mardy Fish and will need a picture-perfect display to get back on top.

There were a few surprises over the past 24 hours as World No 1 Maria Sharapova was beaten by Sabine Lisicki and Belgian ace Kim Clijsters had to wave goodbye to her own SW19 dream after a straight sets thrashing by Angelique Kerber.

Women’s quarter-finals

The women got their fourth-round matches wrapped up on Monday and are heading into their quarter-final battles this afternoon

Arguably the game of the day in this half of the tournament has to be between four-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams and reigning champ Petra Kvitova

The latter is a tasty 11/8 to power her way past one of the greats in the modern tennis game, though Williams – who is 8/13 for the win – has some threatening words for the Czech ace.

I don’t feel tired at all I feel so fresh. As time goes on and on, I tend to relax more and more and realise that this is a great opportunity for me.
