England are coming off the back of a Euro 2012 that just about lived up to expectation. Unlike previous years the team weren’t surrounded by the hype of ‘we are definitely the best team in the world, Spain are over-rated’, spun by the press and eaten up by the general public. And now Roy Hodgson’s men are quietly going about their business and look to have a strong chance of qualifying for the World Cup without to many problems.
The Three Lions are heading to Moldova for their opening qualifying game and Paddy is lining up a mega-Money-Back Special for the first clash in Group H.
If Steven Gerrard scores last, Paddy Power will refund all losing first goalscorer, last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.
Stevie G will be hoping to lead by example as he captains England through this new campaign. Under the management of Roy Hodgson who he worked with at Liverpool, Gerrard is hoping to guide England through a successful qualifying campaign on the road to Brazil 2014.
Gerrard has 19 goals in 96 appearances for the Three Lions including three goals at World Cups. Without Wayne Rooney or Andy Carroll in the squad, Gerrard will be expected to push up and support Hodgson’s chosen front man on Friday night and that could well result in him getting on the scoresheet.
Punters will be hoping that the England captain finds the onion bag last as not only could it give the Three Lions all three points, but it will cue a massive payout from Paddy just in time for the weekend!
