Here is an animated gif of just under 11 seconds of one of the great sports moments, tonight at the Paralympic Stadium, London.
Jonnie Peacock (19) ran the T44 100m sprint in a time of 10.9 seconds which was a new Paralympic record. In the process he beat Oscar Pistorius, who came in fourth and was humble in defeat. Richard Browne won the silver medal and Arnu Fouri took bronze.
Before the race, Peacock had to calm the crowd, and afterwards said: “It’s absolutely surreal. This Games is going to be such a huge legacy and it is great to be a part of that.” Enjoy. It was epic.
