3.00pm: Man Utd 4-0 Wigan – Scholes 51, Hernandez 63, Buttner 65, Powell 81,
3.00pm: QPR 0-0 Chelsea
3.00pm Stoke 1-1 Man City – Crouch 15 – Javi Garcia 35,
4.58pm: The 4-0 correct score was a tasty 12/1 before kick-off. If you had a cheeky punt on that one well done. Enjoy a few scoops on the town with the boys tonight!
4.55pm: A good performance in the end for United fans after Wigan had held out till half-time at 0-0. Chicarito missed an early penalty after Welbeck went down very easily and then both sides had decent chances before the break. The second half was a different story with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men dominating from start to finish. Scholes opened the scoring with a tap in before Chicarito poked home just after the hour mark. Two minutes later and Buttner scored on his debut after a strong solo run and a thunderbolt from the edge of the area from Powell made it 4-0.
4.53pm: Full-time: Man Utd 4-0 Wigan
4.52pm: GOALS! Gervinho gets another and then Walcott joins the party at the Emirates. 6-1 to the Gunners!
4.51pm: Welbeck picks up a yellow card for clattering Di Santo.
4.50pm: GOAL! 3-0 to Fulham and it’s Sidwell late on.
4.49pm: Into added time. Every time Powell picks up the ball the crowd encourage him to shoot. This time he’s just inside the Wigan half but decides against it. Probably a smart move.
4.47pm: Nani reacts after getting tackled by Figueroa and there’s a couple of handbags. Nothing really and the ref dishes out a few tellings off.
4.45pm: GOAL! Villa go 2-0 up and it’s Benteke who finds the target.
4.43pm: Five minutes to go on the clock plus any Fergie time and United have made it look easy in this second half. Once the first goal went in the flood gates opened.
4.41pm: GOAL! Powell scores on his debut to make it four and it’s a belting hit. Welbeck breaks with pace and is clattered on the edge of the box. It falls to Chicarito who tees up Nick Powell. The youngster shifts the ball to his right and leathers a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner. Cracking hit, 4-0.
4.39pm: Not much happening on the pitch at Old Trafford. Scholes and Giggs are having a great time on the bench…
4.34pm: Vidic and that silly haircut of his come off for Johnny Evans. Job done for United here and no doubt Fergie is already thinking about Galatasaray’s visit midweek.
4.33pm: 15 minutes to go. The 4-0 scoreline is 11/5 and 5-0 is 8/1.
4.31pm: No idea how RVP hasn’t scored there. Chicarito pulls it back and somehow Van Persie pokes it wide from two yards, he was under plenty of pressure but you were expecting the net to bulge there.
4.29pm: Things aren’t getting better for Wigan. Giggs and Scholes head off back to the retirement home. Bridge starts at 5.00pm and they need to get showered. On come Van Persie and Nick Powell.
4.26pm: No penalty! Ferdinand makes a good tackle on Di Santo and the ref gives a corner which is spot on despite the Wigan appeals.
4.23pm: GOAL! Buttner scores on his debut! A great solo run by the Dutchman who then blasts a shot past Al Habsi. Keeper should do better but plenty of strength and skill from Buttner to get into the box.
4.19pm: GOAL! 2-0 and Chicarito makes up for missing that penalty! Giggs finds Buttner who drills it in and Boyce plays the Mexican onside who pokes it over Al Habsi. Another poachers goal and are United home and dry? It looks that way to be honest.
4.17pm: Maloney makes way for Gomez as Martinez tries to find a way to get his team back into this game.
4.15pm: Chicarito gets bundled over from behind resulting in a free-kick. Fergie is fuming that there is no booking and the fourth official gets the hairdryer treatment.
4.13pm: A few tasty tackles there. Two brilliant tackles by Chicarito then Scholes goes in hard and fair before McArthur crunches Nani. All blood and thunder which is great to see. The ref isn’t so chuffed though and McArthur gets booked for being the most reckless of the lot.
4.12pm: It’s poor goalkeeping from Al Habsi for the goal and now Wigan are out to 40/1 for the win and the draw is 15/2.
4.10pm: Welbeck pulls out some acrobatics but his half-scissor-kick-flailing-legs shot goes well wide. This is Paul Scholes’ 700th Manchester United appearance!
4.09pm: GOAL! What do I know! Nani puts in a low cross that Al Habsi pushes out and Scholes was there to poke home from four yards. United lead 1-0.
4.08pm: United yet to find their stride in this game and there is an air of frustration around the Theatre of Dreams.
4.06pm: A booking for Boyce who gave Buttner a little tug but it’s a touch harsh. Not a lot in that at all.
4.04pm: Second half gets started and Wigan have an early chance. Kone nods just over the bar with United looking shaky at the back again.
3.58pm: That 8/1 for Wigan looks huge considering their first half performance. United were the better team but there is no chance that Wigan should be that big a price. I fancy goals and both teams to score at 11/5 is appealing. The 1-1 draw might also see a few of my pennies at 13/2.
3.55pm: It’s been a good game at Old Trafford with both teams having chances. Chicarito saw his penalty saved by El Habsi earlier on after Welbeck went down very easily in the box. Wigan have sat deep and survived while looking dangerous on the attack. It appears United still haven’t learnt how to defend crosses and Ramis came very close with a header. United are now 8/15 to win, the draw is 11/5 and Wigan are 8/1.
3.51pm: GOALS! To keep you up to date with what happened there just before the break! Berbatov bagged his second to put Fulham to goals to the good and Saints pulled one back against Arsenal courtesy of Fox.
3.47pm: Half-time! All square at the break. Man Utd 0-0 Wigan.
3.46pm: That’s what happens when you train with Scholes I suppose. Not a good tackle at all.
3.45pm: I said Buttner didn’t mind getting stuck in and he goes in hard and rash on Boyce. Yellow card for the left-back.
3.43pm: Wigan come close! Attacking down the left it’s a great ball down the corridor of uncertainty by Beausejour but Kone at the back stick couldn’t make good enough contact. Welbeck is on the floor holding his head and the physio is on after an accidental clash of bonces.
3.40pm: Five minutes till half-time and it is still goal-less at Old Trafford. United on the attack again but Chicarito’s pull back comes to nothing and Wigan survive again.
3.38pm: GOAL! It’s getting embarassing for Saints fans and Matt Le Tissier is in tears in the Soccer Saturday studio. Arsenal 4-0 up and it’s another own goal! Nightmare.
3.36pm: GOALS! City equalise against Stoke through Javi Garcia and Arsenal extend their lead thanks to Gervinho!
3.35pm: Giggs puts Nani through on goal but the winger tries to be too clever with his chip and puts it well over.
3.34pm: Scholes makes a rash challenge from behind. The Pope likes mass.
3.32pm: GOALS EVERYWHERE! Well not everywhere but in London at least. Arsenal go 2-0 up thanks to Podolski and Berbatov shows he doesn’t miss life in Manchester by putting Fulham ahead against West Brom.
3.30pm: QPR break quickly and Buttner has to sprint back and make a challenge. He doesn’t mind getting stuck in the new left-back and looks like a good player in this opening half an hour. Not fazed by the occasion or the ‘raucous’ away end.
3.27pm: Boyce drags a shot narrowly wide and Wigan are showing a few more teeth in attack. The away team are starting to settle but are sitting deep and relying on attacks on the break.
3.26pm: 20 minutes till half time and it’s evens that there are no goals or 8/11 to be over 0.5 goals before the break.
3.24pm: Now Welbeck heads just over! Good game this, very open and attacking.
3.24pm: United static from a free-kick not for the first time this season and Ramis nods his header just wide. A great delivery from Maloney and that was almost 1-0 Wigan.
3.22pm: Paul Scholes actually makes a perfectly-timed tackle! It’s replayed numerous times on the tele and it really is a thing of unique beauty. Well done Paul.
3.20pm: United win a couple of corners in succession and the pressure is mounting on the Wigan defence!
3.18pm: Goals everywhere but not at OT. Welbeck hits a right-foot volley narrowly wide from a Nani cross. United certainly looking more dangerous with Wigan offering little threat up top.
3.16pm: GOAL! Villa lead Swansea and it’s Lowton who finds the onion bag!
3.14pm: GOAL! Stoke lead the Champions! Crouchy with the goal against City at the Britannia!
3.12pm: It was Jos Hooiveld with that own goal at the Emirates. Not much happening at Old Trafford with United happily holding on to the ball.
3.11pm: 1-0 to Arsenal! It looks like an own-goal at the Emirates as the gunners take the lead!
3.10pm: Chicarito is 7/2 to make up for that penalty miss and open the scoring.
3.08pm: Looking at the replay Al Habsi does do well to get down low to save it but he has moved very early and it’s a poor penalty. United still coming forward in numbers.
3.06pm: Blimey! Welbeck goes down very easily under a challenge from Al Habsi and Wigan are outraged. Welbeck was going nowhere and Welbeck seemed to go down with little persuasion. Chicarito steps up but Al Habsi down low to his left pushes it away, it’s still 0-0.
3.04pm: PEN for United!
3.03pm: Nani gets a healthy kicking off Beausejour and screams like a girl. The ref isn’t bothered.
3.01pm: Off we go then! United shoot right to left in that lovely tablecloth red number they have and Wigan go the other way towards the away fan.
2.59pm: About to get underway. United are 2/7 and Wigan are 10/1
2.58pm: There you have it! No handshake for John Terry or Ashley Cole. Anton Ferdinand now needs to get his head in the game.
2.54pm: Five minutes till kick-off. I don’t know what I’m more excited for, the handshake, Michael Owen maybe making his Stoke debut, or this sausage, beans and chips combo from the Paddy Power canteen!
2.49pm: Plenty of people in Power Tower are backing United to win to nil at evens but that’s a touch short for me after watching them concede plenty of times lately. I’d rather be on the 5/4 that there is over 3.5 goals.
2.46pm: Here’s some first goal scorers for you to feast your eyes on. Chicarito and Danny Welbeck are both 7/2 for United who play a 4-4-2 and give a debut to the left-back Buttner. Paul Scholes is 9/1 with Ryan Giggs at 12/1. For Wigan, Kone and Di Santo are both a massive 16/1 and Maloney is 22/1.
2.35pm: Team news is in…
Man Utd: Lindegaard, Da Silva, Ferdinand, Vidic, Buttner, Nani, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs, Hernandez, Welbeck.
Subs: De Gea, Evans, Valencia, van Persie, Cleverley, Powell, Kagawa.
Wigan: Al Habsi, Boyce, Caldwell, Ramis, Figueroa, Maloney, McCarthy, McArthur, Beausejour, Kone, Di Santo.
Subs: Pollitt, Jones, Crusat, Watson, Gomez, Boselli, Miyaichi.
2.33pm: Wigan have only lost three League games in the last 14. It was in April when Wigan beat United 1-0 as Sir Alex Ferguson’s men blew their lead at the top of the table and City were crowned Champions. The Latics are 10/1 today.
2.31pm: Manchester United are without De Gea, Evra, Valencia, Rooney and RVP but are still 2/7 to win! Full team news coming your way very soon.
2.22pm: Over at the Britannia and Michael Owen takes up his usual spot on the bench. Bet he’s keeping an eye on Camelot’s bid to win the Triple Crown at Doncaster this afternoon.
2.22pm: At Loftus Road both John Terry and Anton Ferdinand start. Will there be a handshake? Does anybody actually care that much if there isn’t?
2.18pm: Team news will be on the way very shortly!
2.17pm: Yay! The Premier League is back! Lets be honest all that Road to Rio baloney really ruined last weekend didn’t it? Finally now the real football is back and what a cracking line up at 3.00pm. We’re focusing on Man Utd v Wigan but will bringing you the goals from all the games as they go in. Unless of course I’m grabbing a brew at the time and then we’ll bring them to you a couple of minutes later!
