Washington Redskins at St. Louis Rams, Sunday 9.15pm on Sky Sports 3
Robert Griffin III is what this game is all about.
Griffin probably gave the best performance of week one on his NFL debut last weekend and looked like an assured veteran in leading the ’Skins to a win over New Orleans on their home turf.
He finished the game with 320 yards after starting the game with a perfect eight for eight for 149 yards and a touchdown.
Griffin will be hoping that his number one target from last week Pierre Garcon will recover in time for this game and Washington coach Mike Shanahan will be hoping that his number one running back (for now) Alfred Morris can continue to pick up yardage on the ground.
The Rams kept their game with the Lions a lot closer than some people thought they would. Jeff Fisher coached a hell of game and the Rams’ corner backs Jenkins and Finnegan look like they’ll be a tough match-up for whoever they face.
Fishers’ side will looking to get more than 53 yards out of Steven Jackson on the ground this weekend, but with centre Scott Wells and left tackle Rodger Safford out of the game it’s hard to know where the protection will come from.
The handicap line is Washington (-3.0) 10/13 with Paddy Power’s online betting and that’s about right for a team on the road after an impressive win at the New Orleans Dome last week. I’m taking the Redskins at that price for a small wager before they get any shorter.
