It may be opening night in the Champions League but the Championship has a few fixtures tonight that won’t like for passion and excitement.

The clash between Leeds United and Hull City  and the animated antics of managers Neil Warnock and Steve Bruce on the sideline could be worth the admission price alone.

Hull come into the game on the back of wins against Bolton Wanderers and Millwall while Leeds United have stuttered after blasting out of the blocks, drawing 3-3 at home to Blackburn Rovers and then crashing to a 2-1 defeat against Cardiff City.

Leeds are looking for their third league win of the season while Bruce’s Hull are chasing their third win on the bounce.

Another standout Championship tie sees Nottingham Forest taking on Crystal Palace.

Forest were one of the early contenders to gain automatic promotion from the Championship, but the price has since drifted to 14/1 after a slow start for the Reds.

Although the team are unbeaten in the league this season, fans have had to endure two tight victories over Bristol City (1-0) and Charlton Athletic (2-1) and frustrating draws against Huddersfield Town (1-1), Bolton Wanderers (2-2) and Birmingham City (2-2).

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace began their 2012/13 season with defeats against Watford (2-3), Bristol City (4-1) and Middlesbrough (2-1).

Palace have since recovered to put their first points on the board with back-to-back wins against Sheffield Wednesday (2-1) and Charlton Athletic (0-1).

Palace are 2/1 in Paddy Power’s online betting while Forest are chalked up at 11/8.

Elsewhere Birmingham City will be hoping to pick up only their second win of the new season against a Bolton Wanderers team still struggling to adjust to life in the second tier of English football.

A six-pointer is on the cards when Charlton Athletic continue their first season back in the Championship with a trip to Derby County. Both teams only have one league win  apiece and will be desperate to start climbing up the table.

Cardiff  City are proving their critics right as they hang out with the big boys at the top of the Championship and are a good punt at 9/1 to win the league come May 2013. The Bluebirds will not have it easy though, when they enter the pressure cooker of the The Den against Millwall.

Peterborough United fans will be forgiven if they are already wishing for the end of the season, as the club look up the creek without a paddle at the bottom of the Championship on zero points.

Watford look for their first win in three games against Gus Poyet’s Brighton and Hove Albion side who are just a point off top spot in the Championship.

Blackpool and Middlesbrough are expected to challenge for promotion and three points for either tonight will help that cause and give them confidence for the season ahead.
