The big Premier League games of the weekend come tomorrow but the bulk of the action comes today. Chelsea are the only one of the big sides to play today. Roberto di Matteo’s side may not have looked too convincing in their Champions League draw with Juventus but the Italian does appear to have a potential superstar on his hands in the form of young Brazilian Oscar. His two goal showing could be enough to earn a start today and he could be worth a bet at 11/5 to score anytime. The Blues can temporarily stretch their lead at the top of the table with a win over Stoke at 2/5. Chelsea are currently 4/1 to win the Premier League outright after their positive start to the season.
Southampton have a great opportunity to pick up their first point of the season at home to Aston Villa today. Of the two the Saints have played the better football in their first four games and they’re 6/4 to beat Villa break their points duck today. Nigel Adkins’ side are currently the favourites to go down at 5/6.
Things are going so well for Rory McIlroy these days that he doesn’t even have to win to win. The Northern Ireland golfer is on course to win the FedEx Cup and pick up the $10m bonus that goes along with it, despite sitting four shot off the lead in PGA Tour championship in Atlanta. As Keith Lemon would say, that lad poos pound coins.
McIlroy is the 5/1 third favourite to win in Atlanta this weekend to confirm his position as the world number one. Will his form boost Europe in the Ryder Cup next week? Europe to win is 11/8.
Our Jonathan goes for back to back Ayr Gold Cup wins at Ayr this afternoon (3.30) and currently leads the betting at 11/1. Hi trainer Kevin Ryan has won two of the last five Gold Cups and he also has Captain Ramius in the race who has been well backed with Paddy Power this morning. The going at the Scottish track is currently heavy.
Paddy Power is paying out on the FIRST FIVE PLACES in this race.
