I think this is a different Liverpool side to the ones Manchester United have faced in the past, I don’t think it’s as good. I do think all the emotion surrounding the club after the truth coming out about Hillsborough and the emotional build-up there’s going to be to the game, I wonder if it’s going to effect the Liverpool players. It wouldn’t surprise me if it did, they’re human beings involved in a great club that has suffered a huge tragedy and it’s all coming to a head this weekend. I just wonder how it’s going to effect their performance.
I fancy Manchester United to take all three points. I think both teams will score at 4/6 but I do think that United have more firepower and more match winners in their team. Just like Arsenal I think they’ll go to Anfield and win.
I don’t think Alex Ferguson will play two up front against Arsenal, he will play Shinji Kagawa if he’s fit, behind Robin van Persie up front. He’ll then pick the team around that, whether he’ll go with two wide men in Valencia and Nani with two in the middle or whether he tweaks it a little bit we’ll wait and see. He might play Danny Wellbeck from the left, which he has done before. But I would be surprised if it was a front two, I think van Persie with Kagawa off him seems to be the formation Sir Alex is looking to play at the moment.
United will have to score first to win the game. There’s an amazing stat in the Premier League which says if you’re the first to score in a game, 80% of the time you don’t lose.
If I was looking for a United scorer the obvious one is van Persie at 5/1 to score first. I always tend to look away from the favourite and I fancy Kagawa, if he starts, to get the opening goal at 10/1.
