The £160,000 Cambridgeshire is the feature race on Saturday as 35 runners line up for the 1m 1f cavalry charge at Newmarket.

Traditionally the first leg of the Autumn double with its 2m 2f cousin the Cezarewitch, it went to 40/1 outsider Prince of Johanne for trainer Tom Tate last year.

The Royal Hunt Cup winner at Royal Ascot John Fahy’s mount will take his chance again at the weekend and is a 25/1 poke in Paddy Power’s online betting.

The market is headed by William Haggas’ lightly-raced Mukhadram at 8/1 who is drawn 17. The three-year-old colt was second here behind Sovereign Debt over a mile on his latest start after finishing fourth in a Group Three at Royal Ascot to Energiser.

Haggas may also run Lincoln third and subsequent May York winner Fury (25/1) who beat Prince of Johanne a nose is trading at 25/1. Johnny Murtagh has been booked to ride from stall 33 in a race where Paddy Power are paying 1/4 the odds the first 5 home.

Hughie Morrison’s Chil the Kite (8/1) is drawn in stall one. The double handicap winner bids to emulate the trainer’s Supaseus who won this in 2009 and will be ridden by champion jockey-elect Richard Hughes.

Marcus Tregoning has booked Willliam Buick to ride Bronze Angel and the well supported bottom weight (12s from 16s) as regular pilot Hayley Turner is in America. Stablemate Boom and Bust runs from stall two at the top of the weights.

King’s Warrior was a 33/1 ‘rag’ when running out a convincing winner of the John Smith’s Handicap at York and Peter Chapple-Hyam’s colt is 14/1 from stall four to pull off a big-race double here in his first race since.

Stevie Thunder has been a standing dish in this contest where the average SP is 24/1. He was a close second last year but needs good, fast  ground to produce his best here from stall 23.

Stat Attack:

  • Last 10 winners aged under four, five and six.
  • 9/10: won over 1m 2f
  • 9/10: had won three or more races
  • 2/10 Winning favourites with 7/10 failing to make the frame
  • 7/10: Had 5 or more runs that season
  • 10/10: Carried 9st 5lbs or less
  • 6/10: Carried 8st 12lb or less
  • 1/10 Won their last outing
