Ashley Cole might be renowned as one of the best full-backs in the country but he certainly isn’t the brightest.
The 31-year-old cheated on Cheryl Cole, shot a work experience student with an air rifle and has now probably landed himself in some very hot water with the FA following this tweet from his official twitter account this afternoon.
— Ashley Cole (@TheRealAC3) October 5, 2012
The tweet comes after the Football Association published a report explaining why Chelsea captain John Terry was banned for four matches and fined £220,000.
The FA Panel said Terry’s defence against claims he racially abused QPR defender Anton Ferdinand was ‘improbable, implausible and contrived’. The panel said the 31-year-old ‘is not a racist’ but it is ‘satisfied’ his comments were used as an insult.
The FA report also details Ashley Cole’s role in the trial, saying that the left-back changed his witness statement and added the word ‘black’ when outlining what he heard Ferdinand say to Terry.
The tweet is likely to get Cole into a serious spot of bother and the 6/1 that he is the next English player to retire from international football suddenly looks a lot more appealing.
The defender has 98 caps for England and has played in three world cups but he could follow Terry’s lead and retire from the international game.
Frank Lampard is the 11/10 favourite to hang up his England boots next with England outcast Rio Ferdinand at 15/8 in the betting. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is 5/1 to permanently retire from the national squad.
