Andy Gray exclusive: Everton have the edge in the Merseyside derby

by Josh Powell | October 27, 2012

Andy Gray blog bylineExpert football pundit and analyst Andy Gray has joined Paddy Power to give his insight on the best of the Premier League betting.

Everton v Liverpool, Live on Sky Sports 1, Sunday 1.30pm

Liverpool did OK in the Europa League and the vast majority of that side will play at Goodison on Sunday so there’s not a lot for Everton to fear. It was another performance were Liverpool play some decent football but you don’t know where the goals are coming from. Everton rightly go into the game favourites and there is talk that Marouane Fellaini will be back which is massive for the Toffees.

Everton could make a couple of changes but the general mentality, belief and confidence is high and as long as they don’t freeze on the day they can win this. There won’t be many goals in this local derby but Everton can win 1-0 at 15/2.

Chelsea v Manchester United, Live on Sky Sports 1, Sunday 4pm

This is a huge test for both teams. Both teams will look at this and say they need to win it. Chelsea maybe less so as they are in good form and only dropped two points all season. Despite the Shakhtar result they’ll have a confidence about them that will trouble Manchester United.

This game could be an absolute feast for the football fan. Both teams are good in attack but not defensively, they both concede chances to the opposition and both have front people who can score. Don’t go anywhere near 0-0 and it would be no surprise to see another result like the 3-3 at Stamford Bride last year. This has the makings of a very high scoring draw at 9/4.

If it is a draw Paddy Power will refund all losing first goalscorer, last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on this game.

Southampton v Tottenham

Tottenham were awful in the first half on Thursday but they were a lot better after the break and got the point they needed. This is a game you have to target to take three points from if you are challenging for a Champions League spot. Gareth Bale should be back in the team and Tottenham have too much quality for Southampton at 17/20.

Newcastle v West Brom

This could be a really entertaining game on Sunday. Newcastle were unlucky with Cheick Tiote’s sending off last weekend and if that hadn’t happened they probably would have won comfortably against Sunderland. They won in the Europa League this week with half their team out and that is a huge boost to their confidence. There will be plenty of goals in it, over 2.5 is a good bet at 8/11 and Newcastle should beat West Brom at 10/11.
