Betting news on Redknapp, Lampard and Benny the Swinger

by Sean Goff | November 26, 2012

Football

Harry Redknapp will take charge of QPR for the first time tomorrow night as the London club travel to Sunderland in the Premier League – still looking for their first win of the season. Now that Mark Hughes has become the first managerial casualty of the season a few other chairman might let their tempers get their better of them and one or two bosses will be getting in extra early to training this morning.

Aston Villa’s Paul Lambert will need to ensure his side take all three points at home to Reading on Tuesday night in one of the first relegation ‘six pointers’ of the season.

Both sides have been anchored to the bottom of the league since the season kicked off and will need to put a bit of daylight between themselves and the trap-door before the busy Christmas fixture-list arrives to ensure it’s a Happy New Year for their supporters.

Meanwhile Frank Lampard has done little to endure himself to the blue rinse brigade with the news that he is evicting his children’s great-grandmother from his Barcelona apartment.  Hope his Uncle ‘Arry doesn’t fall on hard times.

If you can’t wait that long for your footie fix PPtv will be streaming live football from Argentina on Monday night.

Racing

Our old pal Benny the Swinger reappears in the last at Kempton 3.40 with a new jockey doing the steering. Tom Cannon takes over from Brendan Powell who caused mayhem when taking the wrong course at Fakenham with the race in the bag slaying punters who’d backed the 5/4 favourite. Paddy rode to the rescue with a £100,000 pay-out on ‘both’ winners but Powell paid the penalty and rides Tiradia this afternoon.

Kauto Star may be gone but Paul Nicholls and Ruby Walsh have Silviniaco Conti to look forward to for the Cheltenham Gold Cup. The Ditcheat runner is now 7/1 second favourite behind Sir Des Champs and Bobs Worth for the Festival and has been scratched for the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day to get him fresh for next March.
