Juve ready to hijack AC Milan’s move for Super Mario
It appeared AC Milan had the Mario Balotelli deal signed, sealed and very nearly delivered. But, like Stevie Wonder, they didn’t see Juventus coming. There are talks due with the Turin side today amidst fears that AC Milan won’t cough up the cash before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night.
The City striker will travel with his team-mates to Loftus Road tonight for their match with QPR but is then due to fly to Italy tomorrow to complete his move to Serie A. The 22-year-old has had an eventful couple of years in Manchester with his antics on and off the pitch and it will be a shame to see him leaving the Premier League. The Sun.
Danny Graham is close to swapping Swansea for Sunderland
Danny Graham has made no secret of the fact he is a Newcastle fan but that might not stop him joining their North-East rivals Sunderland in a £5.5 million move from Swansea City. The striker has been mostly used from the bench at the Welsh club this year due to the incredible form of new signing Michu and manager Michael Laudrup is keen to stress that no deal has been done.
It’s potentially great news for Steven Fletcher who has been carrying the Sunderland team in front of goal for the last six months. Graham scored 14 league goals last season and will provide much needed support for Martin O’Neill’s side up top. In an added twist to the tale, Graham will probably be in the Swansea squad when they travel to the Stadium of Light this evening. The Daily Mail.
The fifth times the charm – Redknapp wants Crouch again
Harry Redknapp is wheeling and dealing once again as he tries to bring Peter Crouch to QPR from Stoke as the Hoops continue their survival mission. Redknapp and Crouch have joined forces on four occasions in the Premier League already, at Portsmouth in 2002, Southampton in 2004, back to Pompy in 2008 and then to Spurs in 2009.
The total old ‘Arry has paid for Crouchy so far is a whopping £25 million which means the lanky striker probably has one very happy agent. The Sun.
We’ll take o-Fer Europe – Leroy Fer has high hopes for Everton
Everton completed the signing of Leroy Fer from FC Twente for £8.6 million last night and the Dutch international has immediately set his eyes on European football. The 23-year-old penned a four-and-a-half deal with David Moyes’ club yesterday after spending a week thrashing out the deal.
After a quick Google we can tell you the midfielder scored 10 goals in 29 games for Twente, drew comparisons to Patrick Vieira and was nicknamed ‘The Bouncer’ because of his build. He also spent £22,000 on a pet horse for his girlfriend but then had to get rid of it because she couldn’t keep it in her flat. He sounds like great craic. The Daily Mail.
