Thursday, February 7th

Jumps fans are in for a treat today as the winter game gets back on its feet. Doncaster, Huntingdon, Taunton and Clonmel in Ireland are leading the fight-back as trainers get the winter blankets of the half tonnes of horse flesh that have been eating them out of house and home these last three weeks and try to get them earning their keep.

Keep an eye on the trainers who have managed to keep their strings ticking over by sending out a few winners as race fitness will be crucial over the next couple of days as things return to normal. Nobody likes a ‘Berbatov’ who doesn’t fancy putting it in when the weather turns nippy.

If you want to make yourself feel a bit better crack open the Factor 20 and watch all the action from South Africa, South America and Dubai. There’s live streaming  from abroad so if you fancy a punt on meetings in a sunnier climate – Paddy has priced them up.
