CUP SET ON THE CARDS?: Everton’s record at Oldham doesn’t inspire confidence

Oldham v Everton, Live Saturday, 6pm, ITV1

By Aidan Elder | FA Cup

Oldham knocked out Liverpool in the last round, but their luck seemed to run out when they drew the name of the good Merseyside club for the fifth round. Everton have been pretty consistent in the FA Cup lately and on recent form, you’d expect them to progress. There is one kernel of hope for everyone hoping for an upset.

Everton have won just five of their 19 visits (26%) to Boundary Park in their history. Even when you expand the view to look at the overall record, they come off second best with Oldham winning 14 of their meetings to the Toffees’ 13 – along with 12 stalemates.

That gives Cup-set enthusiasts some hope of Oldham pulling off a double Merseyside scalping. The fact David Moyes has his team in better form than Liverpool – and that the home side haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last seven games – won’t.

If Oldham score first, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match.
