Waterford hurling legend John Mullane joins the Paddy Power blog team to give his expert opinion ahead of the weekend’s Allianz Hurling League Division 1A action.

Galway v Kilkenny, Live TG4, Sunday, 2pm

The word coming out of the Kilkenny camp is that they’re three or four weeeks behind schedule and I think Galway will target this game to make their intentions clear for the season. Galway are even money in the match betting and the key lies in how they are faring at half time. Every game they won last season they led and half time and the value to me seems to be the Tribesmen winning at half time and full time at 11/4.

If the last score of this match is a goal, Paddy Power will refund all losing single first goalscorer, last goalscorer, anytime goalscorer and first team goalscorer bets on this match.

Clare v Waterford, Sunday, 2pm.

Not too many Waterford teams win in Ennis – it’s a very hard place to get a result. Davy Fitzgerald has been playing down the Banner’s prospects this season but it’s a very important year for them and I think they could make the breakthrough this season and I can see them beating Waterford.  A lot of the Deise side will be making their debuts. Clare trained hard in November and did 25 sessions by all accounts. They are odds on at 1/3 to beat Waterford but Clare could well be value at 10/11 in the handicap betting at -4  points.
