It’s music to Paddy Power’s ears! 2012 Cheltenham Festival leading jockey Barry Geraghty thinks there is every chance that Hurricane Fly could be turned over and that would save the boss a healthy few bob.
If Hurricane Fly wins the Champion Hurdle Paddy Power is going Money-Back All Losers but Barry Geraghty has a feeling the bookies money is safe. Kind of. The boss still has sleepless nights after Sprinter Sacre took him for several million at last year’s Festival.
The Willie Mullins-trained Fly was turned over at the Festival last year, finishing third behind Overturn and Rock on Ruby despite being the red-hot 4/6 favourite. Connections felt he ran flat and this year his preparation has been better but Geraghty doesn’t believe he is unbeatable.
He might be a 14 -time Grade One champion but the jury is out for Barry. Binocular has been in chequered form since winning the Champion Hurdle and Geraghty wouldn’t be backing Nicky Henderson’s charge with any confidence.

Hurricane Fly is 2/1 with Paddy to regain his Champion Hurdle crown but no horse has been able to regain the title for 38 years, since Comedy Of Errors in 1975.
