Plenty of lads in the Paddy Power office would have backed Big Bucks to win the World Hurdle this year. Not because they are racing gurus or have spent their lives pouring over form books. Because it it was blatantly obvious he would win. But with Big Bucks missing the Cheltenham Festival the World Hurdle is wide open and bar sticking a Racing Post on the door and throwing darts at it, we don’t know how to find a winner.
Will Oscar Whisky make the trip? Can Reve De Sivola buck the losing trend of Kauto Star Feltham Chase winners? Does Bob Warrior need the going to be heavy and will Una Healy ever realise we are made for each other? We can only dream.
Luckily Matt Chapman is here and he’s done the hard work so we don’t have to. The gee-gee fanatic and At The Races pundit has had his head buried in the Cheltenham Festival form book and isn’t shy to tell us what he thinks.
‘This is a pin-drop, this race. The classiest horse in this race is Solwhit and he is trained by a genius in Charles Burns. If he stays at 8/1 he is a great bet.’
You can listen to all Matt Chapman’s thoughts on the race right here.
(Solwhit now 9/1)
