A jet plane. A pneumatic drill. Tens of thousands of screaming teenagers at a Justin Bieber concert. These are all loud noises but nothing compares to the Cheltenham Festival roar when the horses go off in the Gold Cup.
No pressure then Mr Barry Geraghty.
The 2012 Cheltenham leading jockey takes the ride on Bobs Worth, the 3/1 favourite for Friday’s spectacle. The Hennessy Gold Cup form is said to be bomb-proof and Bobs Worth was incredibly impressive beating Tidal Bay at the start of December.
‘He jumped brilliantly in the Hennessy and he is in great shape at home’, Geraghty told Paddy Power. ‘The form of that race is strong. He beat Tiday Bay way and I only gave him a couple of smacks after the last. He won snug and is a worthy favourite.’
Barry Geraghty has won the Gold Cup once before in 2005 on board Kicking King, but there is a great chance Bobs Worth could bring the jockey his second success at the Festival.
