Matt Chapman’s biggest ‘Yeehaa’ of the Cheltenham Festival will be heard up and down the country if Long Run can regain his Gold Cup crown. The 2011 winner and two-time King George Champion is 6/1 in the race and has ducked under the radar coming in to the biggest week of the year.
Bobs Worth and Sir Des Champs are the talk of the town and those two head the market. But punters haven’t been shy in ploughing into Long Run who has never been out of the first three in his racing career.
Punters pal Matt Chapman isn’t afraid to back the former champ and doesn’t agree with the punters put off by the jockey booking.
‘A lot of people ignore this horse because Sam Waley-Cohen rides him. But he has won a Gold Cup and he has won two King Georges. No he is not Ruby Walsh, no he is not AP McCoy, but I am very hopeful.’
