THE DON: Ryan Lowe is MK Dons’ top scorer in League One this season

By Josh Powell | League One

The International break is back which means top players develop mystery ‘niggling injuries’, Roy Hodgson is made to look a fool by a senior squad member, and the void of Premier League action leaves us crying out for a Super Sunday of Wigan v Aston Villa.

It means that there is no Champions League football on the box tonight and ‘why watch Barcelona when you could watch Bury?’ is a question nobody is asking. But there are four League One fixtures scheduled this evening with seven of the eight teams odds-against in the betting.

Don’t worry if you haven’t been keeping up with Oldham’s season or you can’t name Yeovil’s starting XI. We can’t either. But we have got three key trends for each game to inform your betting ahead of tonight’s action.

Bury v Stevenage

Bury have lost their last four home games on the spin.
Stevenage have lost all five of their away games since the start of February.
In five head-to-heads Bury have won just one.
PREDICTION: Crap form meets slightly crappier form. Probably best to sit on the fence. The draw is 9/4.

Crewe v MK Dons

Only three teams in the league have scored fewer goals at home than Crewe.
MK Dons have drawn their last four away games in League One.
These teams have played three league games against each other and two matches have ended 2-2.
PREDICTION: There is a small chance this game could be a thriller. Unfortunately there is a much larger chance it will be a low-scoring, dull game with few chances . The draw is 9/4 and 0-0 is 15/2.

Oldham v Hartlepool

Oldham have lost 11 of the last 15 league games.
Hartlepool have the worst away record in the league, picking up just 14 points from a possible 57.
Oldham have won three of the last four matches against Hartlepool.
PREDICTION: A good old relegation six-pointer. If I was on the Match of The Day panel I’d spout some nonsense about home advantage being crucial in a basement battle without backing it up with any statistical information. Oldham can win at 19/20.

Yeovil v Swindon, Live on Sky Sports 1

Yeovil haven’t lost at home since November 24. They have won eight games and drawn twice.
Swindon have conceded just 16 away goals, which is the lowest tally in League One.
Six of the last nine games between these two teams have been won by a single goal. One of the other games was a 3-3 draw.
PREDICTION: Yeovil play at Huish Park and the locals tell me it is a fortress, before mumbling something about farming and railways. The Somerset dialect is very difficult to understand. They sounded convincing anyway, so Yeovil to win at 8/5 or Yeovil to win by exactly one goal is 7/2.

An Optimistic League One four-fold – 52/1

Bury v Stevenage draw
Crewe v MK Dons draw
Oldham to beat Hartlepool
Yeovil to beat Swindon

A very optimistic League One correct score Lucky 15 – £1 pays £6,000

Bury 1-1 Stevenage
Crewe 0-0 MK Dons
Oldham 2-0 Hartlepool
Yeovil 1-0 Swindon
