John Mullane: Clare are the team to look out for this summer

by Rob Dore | June 1, 2013

Waterford hurling legend John Mullane joins the Paddy Power blog team to give his expert opinion ahead of Sunday’s Munster hurling championship clash between Waterford and Clare. He also chooses the money-back special on the game.

Clare v Waterford – Sunday 4pm, RTE2

I’ve said it before, if Clare can find a way to score one or two goals not only will they be a match for Waterford and Cork but they’ll be a match for any of the big three going forward this year. I think Clare are the team to look out for this summer.

They’ve an awful lot of good young talent who have a lot of underage success under their belt. If they can hit the ground running on Sunday, Clare could be a real surprise package.

For Waterford to win they’re going to need everything to go in their favor and probably play better than they did twelve months ago. They’ve already been beaten by Waterford at the start of the league campaign so there won’t be any complacency from Clare at this point in the season.

I see Davy Fitz bringing his team to Thurles on a mission to try and get this win and kick on from there.

Looking at a bet I’d have to go for Clare -2 points at evens.
