Somewhere in Spain there is a huge factory churning out model footballers with the aim of maintaining Spanish dominance in the world game. Isco has come straight from the factory and is flip-flapping his way through the European Under-21 Championship.
The Malaga midfielder won the ‘Golden Boy’ last year, meaning he’s the best young talent in Europe and that pricked Sheikh Mahmood’s ears. Isco has said he’d like to follow manager Manuel Pellegrini, but there will be a few more noughts on that cheque if the play-maker keeps pulling off these kind of tricks.
Isco’s flip-flap left Nikita Chicherin dangling a lazy leg in the wrong direction and was just one of the tricks the magician pulled out during Spain’s 1-0 win over Russia. The Spanish are now the 6/4 favourites to retain their Under-21 crown and continue their domination of world football.
In the other game in Group B the Netherlands beat Germany 3-2 with a late header, meaning the Germans have to get a result against Spain on Sunday. The five-goal thriller was the game of the tournament so far and left Paddy refunding punters again. Twice in two days his Money-Back Special has clicked leaving Paddy Power punters quids in.
Hopefully this GIF of Isco making a Russian look daft will ease Paddy’s pain.
