Poor Wallabies. You tried your best, but so far it hasn’t been good enough.
It’s normally not over til the fat lady sings Waltzing Matilda, but we don’t think the Aussies have a Dingo’s chance of winning the Lions series (or The Ashes).
Paddy Power is paying out all outright bets on Lions to win the series AND England to win The Ashes. (Aussie cricket makes Newcastle United look organised these days).
So if you had a bet on either, or both, you’re quids in tonight. Spend it on pizza, the better half, or invest in Wimbledon – it’s yours to do as you please.
The combined payout comes in at over £100,000 but it’s something Paddy Power is happy to do to get one over on the lads from down under.
It comes after the admittedly narrow 23-21 victory over the Wallabies in Brisbane last weekend, but with the tour opposition providing the worst defence since Charles Saatchi, we’re cutting our losses before the second-test game at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne on Saturday.
A few days back, Australian bookies Sportsbet tried to taunt our boys with a 170m by 90m sign directly under Melbourne’s international flight path (below).
Ultimately that turned their national icon, Skippy, into a bit of a nympho.
So, back at you,
Wallies, Wallabies. The Lions are firmly on top.
