Championship previews | Nottingham Forest
Real Championship football fans give the Paddy Power Blog their honest previews for the new season. The good people at In From The Trent (@infromthetrent) have told us that there is no-one better for the Forest job than Billy Davies and striker SImon Cox could make the difference in the promotion race.
State of play: Forest missed out on a play-off spot on the final day of last season, but we never expected to be anywhere near that position before Billy Davies’ arrival, so it wasn’t too hard to stomach when we missed the opportunity.
How’s the gaffer? Top drawer. He’s the only man for the job. Davies knows the club inside out, and wants what’s best.
Terrace hero: It’s hard to tell, because we haven’t had a squad as strong as this for a long time. Simon Cox could get the run of form he deserves. He puts in 100% every week, and deserves a bag full of goals this season. He could be the difference at the end of the year!
Big-time Charlie: Many fellow Forest fans would agree that Dan Harding has to be the weakest player in the side. He tries so hard but has never really showed any sort of potential to play at this level.
Worst away ground: It has to be one of the newcomers, Yeovil Town’s Huish Park. Being a Forest fan we had a few trips there in our League One days, and it’s the worst in the Championship for obvious reasons. Just look at it!
Which Championship side has the best away fans? Leeds United can kick up some noise on their travels, but not enough noise as the Nottingham Forest faithful.
Who is your dream Championship signing? Most would say Lionel Messi, but I’m going to be realistic and go for Charlie Austin. Watch this space!
What is your best terrace chant?
‘City Ground, oh mist rolling in from the Trent, my desire, is always to be here!’
