Championship previews | Doncaster Rovers

Real Championship football fans give the Paddy Power Blog their honest previews for the new season. Donny fan Matty Banks (@MattyDonnyRover) explains how, despite a difficult summer, the League One champs can survive the Championship.

State of play: Donny finished as League One champions last season, but it has been a very frustrating summer with the lack of transfer activity. Luckily the players we have brought in, like Harry Forrester and Mark Duffy, could go on potentially to be key players in the Championship in the near future. The possibility of Irish investment is a massive boost for the club.

How’s the gaffer? Paul Dickov is inexperienced at Championship level but he did really well at Oldham considering they were on a low budget. Fans are more than willing to give him a chance and have plenty of faith in him.

Terrace hero: David Cotterill is deadly at set pieces and can score some wonder goals.

Big-time Charlie: James Harper would be a fantastic air traffic controller as he spends most of his time waving his arms around on the pitch and hopelessly pointing.

Worst away ground in the Championship and why? There is less leg room at Loftus Road than on a Ryanair flight.

Which Championship side have the best away fans? It has to be Leeds United. They sell out every away allocation across the country every single week.

What is your best terrace chant? There are so many to choose from, but ‘Rovers till I die’ is one of our main chants. You can’t beat a classic.
