Senan Connell exclusive: A GAA double to pay for Coppers this bank holiday Sunday

by Sean Goff | August 2, 2013

Senan Connell

GAA expert and TV3 pundit Senan’s acca came up trumps last week and he’s cast his eye over the Championship quarter finals at Croke Park this Bank Holiday Sunday.

Kerry v Cavan, Live TV3, Sun 2pm, Croke Park.

There’s a lot of romanticism to this game with all the talk of Cavan upsetting Kerry at the Polo Grounds, New York, back in 1947. But I can’t see Kerry slipping up here. Cavan will ‘park the bus’ and go defensive against the Kingdom but I’d expect Eamon Fitzmaurice’s side to cover the handicap at 5/6 (-5) here.

Mayo v Donegal, Live TV3, Sun 4pm, Croke Park.

Mayo will have their homework done on the team that beat them in the All-Ireland final last year. They look like they’re on a mission this season and the Connacht side have knocked out the reigning All Ireland champions for the last two years. They could easily make it a hat-trick here. Donegal are a bit battered and bruised, having lost to Monaghan and had a hard game last weekend against Laois. Mayo could cover the handicap at 10/11 (-1).
