It’s amazing what a bit of ‘keeping up the Joneses’ can do for you and the desperation of giving Swansea one in the eye could be enough to ensure the red-dy Bluebirds survive in their Premier League debut. Cardiff have been building towards this for years and the solid foundations should make them a tougher nut to crack than most newly promoted sides.

On top those reasonably solid foundations, they’ve splashed a bit of cash, rather surprisingly getting Steven Caulker from Spurs for a fairly reasonable £8 million and convincing Gary Medel to swap the south of Spain for the south of Wales. Cleverly, they’ve also avoided the pitfall of thinking Heidar Helguson can cut it in the Premier League.
