DI DAY FOR PAOLO – This season will go a long way to proving if Di Canio is a managerial superstar

The Sunderland HR department has been one of the busier in the Premier League so far this summer. Having guided the Blacks Cats to safety with more ease than had been expected, Paolo Di Canio didn’t wait long to get the broom out and dispose of the players he feels aren’t up to standard. As last season’s struggles suggest, that’s a lot of players. So long, Titus.

On the recruitment side of things, he’s done pretty well. Jozy Altidore and Emanuele Giaccherini are good additions to the squad. Alongside Fletcher, Colback, Larsson and Sessegnon, they could work very well. If they don’t work, Paolo won’t be shy about telling them and that’s where the problems might arise. Molly coddled millionaires like been given out to about as much as Jamie Oliver likes sensible names for his children and if Di Canio loses the dressing room, there’s potential for more trouble.
