A couple of end of season, dead rubbery type wins gave Norwich a level of breathing space over the drop zone that somewhat flattered them. They did deserve to stay up, but there was a lot to work on for Chris Hughton in the off-season to make sure they can make the same claim this time around. He looks to have done pretty well.
Grant ‘I should be playing for England’ Holt has gone to Wigan, but getting Ricky van Wolkswinkel and Gary Hooper in to replace him definitely trading up. There’s a smidgen of doubt about their ability to replicate their goalscoring exploits in Portugal and Scotland respectively in the Premier League, but it’s worth a shot. Nathan Redmond and Leroy Fer are less overly hyped signings, but they add depth to the squad. If everything goes to plan, the Canaries should be safe, if it doesn’t, at least Chris Hughton is really nice.
