Arsenal v Spurs, Live Sunday, 4pm, SS1
The Gunners had a nightmare start against Aston Villa but that’s behind them now. Wins against Fulham away and their two-leg victories over Fenerbahce has them back on track again.
Arsene Wenger’s side have won this tie at the Emirates 5-2 for consecutive seasons and I fancy them at 6/5 to beat Spurs this afternoon. If you fancy a repeat of that scoreline it’s 125/1 with Paddy Power.
Andre-Villas Boas has been on one of the biggest spending sprees I can remember and they’ve broken the club record transfer fee three times already in as many weeks.
French striker Olivier Giroud is more than good enough for the Premier League and can keep his ‘London’ record going as he chases a 14th goal in the capital. He’s 6/1 to score the first goal of the game or 17/10 to hit the net at anytime.
Spurs look to me to still be bedding in a few players and haven’t scored from open play in the league yet. New-signing Roberto Soldado’s two league goals have come from penalties. But Tottenham did put eight past Dinamo Tbilisi on aggregate with Jermain Defoe getting two last Thursday, so the goals are there – even if Gareth Bale isn’t.
I can see both teams scoring at 8/15, but I think Arsenal will shade it at the Emirates.
