The Informer: Get the inside scoop on the weekend’s Premier League bets

MBS Draw - all games hdr

We don’t wear a trilby hat and we don’t own a trench coat. Unfortunately Power Tower is too well lit for anybody to walk in on us smoking mysteriously in the shadows either. Damn motion sensor lights.

Bar all this, we’ve done our best investigator impression to uncover some of the more attractive bets for punters this weekend.

If any Premier League match ends in a draw Paddy Power will refund losing first goalscorer, last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast single bets.

With that in mind we’re here to help inform your betting and take advantage of Paddy’s bananas offer. In theory, according to the mega football odds compiler downstairs, the three most likely Premier League matches to end in a draw this weekend are…

  • Tottenham v Chelsea – 9/4
  • Hull v West Ham – 9/4
  • Swansea v Arsenal – 23/10

So it is in these games where the MBS is most likely to click. If it does, punters can take advantage of knowing that they’ll get their cash back on any losing first goalscorer bets.

Tottenham v Chelsea – Goalscorers

Player Team First Scorer odds
Samuel Eto’o Chelsea 6/1
Roberto Soldado Tottenham 13/2
Jermain Defoe Tottenham 13/2
Fernando Torres Chelsea 7/1
Frank Lampard Chelsea 8/1

Despite not having the greatest of starts to his Chelsea career, the Paddy Power traders still fear Samuel Eto’o. His record of 141 goals in just 212 league games at Barcelona and Inter Milan is probably good reason to have him as the favourite to open the scoring at White Hart Lane.

Spurs frontmen Soldado and Defoe aren’t far behind the Cameroon international. Soldado has four goals in six appearances for Spurs and Defoe has scored twice in all three of his last Tottenham starts. Fernando Torres scored against Swindon in midweek and ‘Super’ Frank Lampard makes up the top five.

Hull v West Ham – Goalscorers

Player Team First Scorer odds
Danny Graham Hull 6/1
Yannick Sagbo Hull 6/1
Gedo Hull 7/1
Sone Aluko Hull 7/1
Mladen Petric West Ham 7/1

It is hard to split several players in front of goal, with several Hull City Tigers’ players roaring ahead at the front of the market. Tee hee indeed.

Danny Graham hasn’t scored for his latest club yet, but he shares favouritism with Yannick Sagbo who could be the main danger if he stops trying to headbutt opposition players.

Sone Aluko got an impressive winner against Newcastle last week and is 7/1 to open the scoring at home this weekend. The Hammers’ best hope is Croatian striker Mladen Petric who made his debut in last week’s defeat to Everton.

Swansea v Arsenal – Goalscorers

Player Team First Scorer odds
Olivier Giroud Arsenal 5/1
Michu Swansea 13/2
Wilfried Bony Swansea 7/1
Alvaro Vazquez Swansea 8/1
Yaya Sanogo Arsenal 17/2

Olivier Giroud has opened the scoring in four of Arsenal’s five Premier League games this season so it is no surprise that he has got the Paddy Power traders running for cover. The Frenchman has scored with 18 per cent of his shots this season and is the man in form.

Michu opened the scoring against Palace last week and scored three times in four games against the Gunners last season. Wilfried Bony has scored twice in all competitions this season and has received plenty of support in the betting.
