Newton Abbot, Bath and Hamilton racecourses on Monday wouldn’t normally strike you as places where dreams are made.
But in the space of three hours one lucky Belfast punter pulled Paddy’s pants down to the tune of £98,783.40 off a £7.50 stake when all four of his horses won in a Lucky 15.
The regular went into a shop and placed his usual 50p Lucky 15. Normally he’d put in two favourites to cover his bet and two outsiders for a bit of jam on top.
This time though, he decided to let it ride. And ride it did as Fol Hollow 12/1, North London 12/1, Camerooney 22/1 and Compton Prince 33/1 all bolted in to leave the lucky chap writing his Christmas letter to Santa three months early.
Scarcely believing his luck the customer needed to double-check his winnings on the Paddy Power bet calculator, but assumed it was broken when it returned an £82,319.20 booty. It was only when he went to the pay-out counter in the shop that staff told him he’d bagged an extra 20 per cent bonus – for picking all four winners.
The customer said:
I thought the online bet calculator was broke when I saw it paid out more than £80 grand. When I returned to the shop the staff told me I’d also won a 20 per cent bonus on top of that to bring it up to almost £100k.
So while Paddy faces (another) showdown with the bean-counters – our man in Belfast can place his usual bet at Paddy’s expense for the next 36.5 years. Well done, sir!
