Irish Champion Jockey | Payout
Paddy Power is paying out early on Joseph O’Brien being champion flat jockey in Ireland after he broke Mick Kinane’s 20-year winners record today .
A Navan treble saw O’Brien Jnr leapfrog Kinane’s 1993 record of 115 winners in an Irish Flat racing season after booting home Ballydoyle’s Sardinia, Marvellous and Dysios for Denis Cullen.
And Paddy – no stranger to battling the weighing scales – is now offering 25-1 that O’Brien one day beats Charlie Swan’s jumps jockeys’ record of 147 winners in a single National Hunt season – if he’s forced to switch codes.
A huge well done to Joseph, but one day his frame may well catch up with him and he’ll be forced to switch to jumps.
There’s no doubt he would be a huge success over obstacles but we reckon Charlie Swan’s record of 147 over jumps is likely to snooker him in the future.
