The World Cup Qualifiers are coming to an end, and for a handful of countries, a summer taking on the world’s best in Rio, is in sight. For everybody else it’ll be either a punditry job on a TV channel you’ve never heard of or taking on the other parents in Centre Park’s five-a-side tournament before watching a local Queen tribute act in the evening.

If that doesn’t sum up the importance of Friday’s matches, nothing will!

The weekend might be void of any Premier League action, but the internationals still provide plenty of opportunity for the optimistic accas. Here at the Paddy Power Blog, we like nothing more than a whopper coupon of dreams and we’ve some killer stats to boot.

In the previous games in the group stages, five particular groups below have produced some tasty goal-fests and punters can take advantage again.

  • Group A: 80 per cent of games have had over 1.5 goals
  • Group C: 83 per cent of games have had over 1.5 goals
  • Group D: 88 per cent of games have had over 1.5 goals
  • Group F: 79 per cent of games have had over 1.5 goals
  • Group H: 83 per cent of games have had over 1.5 goals

To make the argument even more convincing, there are 14 matches from these groups taking place on Friday night. The teams facing each other in these 14 games have all played each other before in the reverse fixture in qualifying, and every one of those fixtures had over 1.5 goals.

For some reason the Paddy Power traders are slacking off and haven’t priced up the market for Andorra v Romania, but leaving them out, that gives us a 19/1 accumulator to pay for the weekend.

Over 1.5 goals accumulator

Croatia v Belgium 2/5
Wales v Macedonia 2/5
Faroe Islands v Kazakhstan 4/11
Germany v Ireland 1/10
Sweden v Austria 1/4
Estonia v Turkey 2/7
Netherlands v Hungary 1/7
Azerbaijan v Northern Ireland 1/2
Luxembourg v Russia 1/9
Portugal v Israel 1/7
Moldova v San Marino 1/9
Ukraine v Poland 4/11
England v Montenegro 2/9

Not too shabby for games that, according to the trends, love producing over 1.5 goals. Let’s be honest who doesn’t? 26 teams, 13 games and one Friday night acca that could give your e-wallet a little boost before the X Factor on Saturday.

Or make you enough cash to drink away the shame of watching X Factor anyway.

MBS Gerrard anytime v Montenegro
