A 15/1 international accumulator which is a no brainer (plus a 158/1 shot to boot!)

DANCING DANNY: Sturridge can help England on their way to Rio with victory against Poland tonight

It’s the final round of the World Cup Qualifiers which means a number of things for football fans. If your team has earned their place in the hat, the exciting plans of a trip to Brazil can be put in motion and you can dream of international glory.

Unfortunately for everybody else, it means a return of Rio’s World Cup Wind Ups and the Coronation Street schedule being thrown all over the place to accommodate Adrian Chiles’ smug face.

The final round of matches does provide football punters with a whopper coupon to get stuck into though, giving us the perfect excuse to sit in front of the laptop tonight rather than watching The Great British Bake Off.

World Cup Qualifiers | Half-time results

Team Won Drawn Lost
Germany 100% 0% 0%
Belgium 67% 33% 0%
Italy 56% 33% 11%
Holland 67% 33% 0%
Switzerland 44% 56% 0%
Russia 56% 22% 22%
Bosnia-Herzegovina 56% 33% 11%
England 67% 22% 11%

Holland, Belgium and Germany have got their towels down in Rio and are able to use the final game as a glorified leaving-doo. Bar an absolute disaster at home to Poland, England should also have made it to Brazil, albeit with all the grace of a pissed donkey on ice.

The fourfold for these four teams to win tonight pays out at 7/1 with Paddy Power. However, all four teams have been ahead at half-time in at least six of their nine matches. Backing all four teams to be winning at half-time pays out at 15/1 instead.

For punters who occasionally don’t mind chucking 50p around for the craic, the half time eight-fold for the seven teams to be leading and Switzerland to be drawing pays out at 158/1.

The Germans have helped their stereotype no end by being ridiculously efficient in qualifying. They’ve dropped just two points on the way to securing top spot and have been ahead at half-time in every match they’ve played. Admittedly the trip to Sweden might be their toughest test, but if you fancy the trend to continue they are 11/10 to be leading at the oranges.

It’s not as attractive as a 158/1 shot, but a winner’s a winner.
