Matthew Strutte | Ball of Shame
Mexico crept into the World Cup 2014 play-offs last night with as much grace as university fresher on the pull. Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez, normally so deadly in front of goal for his country, missed this opportunity which would have given his team the lead in their game away to Costa Rica.
That miss was minutes away from proving fatal to Mexico’s World Cup hopes as Costa Rica led 2-1 with time running out. Mexico’s hopes rested on the result in the Panama vs USA game being played at the same time.
Mexican TV suddenly went split screen to torture the viewers. The USA were also trailing 2-1 but astonishingly in injury time Graham Zusi goal tied the game and began some typically Mexican commentating.
As for Chicarito, good luck getting back into that United team, mate. Ball of Shame indeed.
