Shhhh! Don’t tell Gary but the Paddy Power Blog has a shadowy insider at X Factor. Each week The Spoiler dishes the dirt on what’s really going on behind the scenes and will (hopefully) provide some decent tips for you lot. We can’t do anything about how terrible the show is, but you might take some cash from Paddy…
The Spoiler | X Factor
Sunday night’s X Factor finally jumped to life. But this time around, it was the judges and not the contestants stealing the headlines.
Tensions were high for the results show which saw boyband Kingsland Road up against Sharon’s act, Shelley Smith.
And, despite pleas from Sharon to Louis (she said she would do ‘anything’ for him if he saved her act) it fell on deaf ears as the Irish judge opted to send Shelley home.
Sharon instantly swapped seats with Gary Barlow, refusing to sit beside Louis. She said afterwards she was “devastated” to lose the bubbly blonde and felt betrayed by Louis.
Don’t believe the hype
Our backstage mole says the on-screen antics may have been hyped by Mrs O in a bid to increase ratings – there’s clearly no real animosity between them.
Some producers on the show appear to be concerned with sliding numbers on the Saturday night show and have asked the judges to ‘step up the banter’.
“Sharon and Louis went out for dinner on Sunday night so their friendship is still intact,” our X Factor source said.
“The producers are worried some of the contestants aren’t making brilliant television and, as a result, the public are switching over. They have asked the judges to try to be more controversial and that may be where the row between Sharon and Louis started.”
There was more drama backstage after pregnant performer SeSe Foster was taken ill. The singer had to be rushed by ambulance to hospital after feeling unwell, meaning girl group Miss Dynamix couldn’t perform – and got an automatic pass to next week’s show.
(Paddy Power has refunded all bets on Miss Dynamix to leave in the second elimination week of X Factor after their exemption at the weekend. We returned stakes to all punters who backed the girl-band to leave or finish in the bottom two, costing just over £5,000).
Ms Dynamix to get the boot is a safe bet
The boys in Kingsland Road are suspicious and were overheard grumbling that everything was a little bit too convenient for Ms Dynamix. They were odds-on favourites to get the boot at the weekend and instead managed to nab a golden ticket to week three.
The trio had a fractious week last week and we have been told they will have to perform as a duo if SeSe hasn’t recovered by Saturday. Paddy Power has them at 65 to get eliminated next weekend and that looks a safe bet.
Abi Alton’s lukewarm performance at the weekend left her in tears backstage and it seems her confidence is shot. She needs a strong week or else those 41 odds will be dramatically reduced.
