The Breeders’ Cup is just a memory now, but how we loved smashing up Paddy Power’s profits with a cracking two days of winners – sorry Paddy, but I warned you! Mucho Macho Man and Chriselliam were particularly rewarding. Yeeehaaa!
Anyway, on the basis you are only as good as your last victor, it’s time to try and repeat the dose this weekend.
On the Flat all eyes are on the November Handicap at Doncaster, and with the ground typically soft at this time of year it will take some stamina to win.
I am taking a real chance with Swnymor (3.35pm) who should be a Grade 1 winning hurdler. He last ran on the Flat off a mark of 87 when a fine third to First Mohican at Nottingham but can now race off 85.
Yes, he’s not run on the level for some time. but he would have won the finale at Chepstow but for falling and he loves heavy ground. Although he fell again at Chepstow in October, that will have blown the cobwebs away and he could be fresher than most. Take a chance on him at a double-digit price.
One to beat
On the same Doncaster card check out Jack Dexter (2.25pm) in the Listed Wentworth Stakes. He deserves a big win, and is much better off at the weights with Highland Colori than for a defeat earlier in the season. He’s in form and goes in the mud. On ratings he could be the one to beat.
Jumps fans will turn to Wincanton and The Badger Ales is a tough event to sort out, but I will be on Court by Surprise (2.40pm) who runs for the Emma Lavella yard.
Emma has already trained more winners this season than the whole of 2012-2-13 and the selection ran a great race on the comeback at Chepstow.
It’s another cracking weekend. And Paddy we are out to get you again. You hear me? Yeeehaaa!
