Get that Friday feeling with a 132/1 international accumulator

Buying 33 pints for £1 can't be done I hear you say. Well it can if you turn that one pound coin into 132 pound coins! Here's a seven-fold to try to get the weekend off to the best possible start

by Josh Powell | November 14, 2013

This isn’t any old international week. Oh no. This is an international week were the teams already know whether or not their heading to the World Cup, the players are under pressure to get decent Christmas presents for their numerous WAGs and managers are threatening to give an unknown player an international cap to spark a media furore regarding whether or not they could possibly make the plane to Rio.

It is pretty spectacular.

In all seriousness having a weekend without Premier League football is pretty naff, however a shedload of quality action on the box while we’re in the pub on Friday is not to be sniffed at.

To celebrate some Friday footy we’re hoping to make enough drinking money to see us through the weekend off a €1 coin, with an accumulator based on a whole lot of research.

The Paddy Power Blog has gone through the last five years of International friendlies and totted up how many games that each side is involved in, has over 2.5 goals. We’ve put that in handy percentage terms for you and the results are below.

  • Denmark: 29 games – 59% Over 2.5
  • Norway: 26 games – 42% Over 2.5
  • Turkey: 25 games – 44% Over 2.5
  • Northern Ireland: 13 games – 31% Over 2.5
  • Chile: 36 games – 53% Over 2.5
  • England: 24 games – 67% Over 2.5
  • Ireland: 23 games – 35% Over 2.5
  • Latvia: 18 games – 33% Over 2.5
  • Italy: 27 games – 41% Over 2.5
  • Germany: 28 games – 71% Over 2.5
  • Poland: 48 games – 40% Over 2.5
  • Slovakia: 23 games – 61% Over 2.5
  • Scotland: 15 games – 60% Over 2.5
  • USA: 37 games – 49% Over 2.5

The number of Premier League games that have had over 2.5 goals this season is 42.7 per cent, and the number of World Cup qualifiers that had over 2.5 goals was 48.1 per cent. So taking 45% as a handy middle ground we’ve looked at the fixtures, got an average of the team’s totals and judged the likelihood of their being over or under 2.5 goals.

Denmark v Norway: 50.5% – Over 2.5 goals 11/10
Turkey v Northern Ireland: 37.5% – Under 2.5 goals 6/5
England v Chile: 60% – Over 2.5 goals 4/5
Ireland v Latvia: 34% – Under 2.5 goals Evens
Italy v Germany: 56% – Over 2.5 goals 4/5
Poland v Slovakia: 50.5% – Over 2.5 goals 11/10
Scotland v USA: 54.5% – Over 2.5 goals 11/10

There you have it, a 132/1 acca which will, in an ideal world pay for the drinks on Friday night and possibly a pizza for the stumble home. We will celebrate in the following manner…
