Here’s some vintage crappy football from the Romanian top flight. It happened earlier this week when sometime Champions Leaguers, CFR Cluj took on Săgeata Năvodari and features not one, but two moments of heroic terribleness within the space of about 14 seconds of each other.
First up, in a howler worthy of a clip all of it’s own, the Săgeata goalkeeper, Krisztian Pogacsics drops the ball to the leg of Vaseli Maftei who manages to miss despite being all of one yard out with little pressure on him. It’ll come as no surprise to learn he’s a defender by trade.
If that wasn’t enough, the ball gets kept in play and the goalkeeper provides us with his second howler of the game, letting a fairly crap cross bounce over his head an nestle in the back of the net. If it’s any consolation, they lost 6-1 and this made no difference really.
And it all happens within the first couple of minutes of the game. It’ll also come as no surprise that Săgeata are on a six game losing streak and have the league’s worst defence.
