Cheltenham takes centre stage again this weekend and I’m all over it.
A 2/1 winner pays the same at any track, but it just feels like more when you have success at Cheltenham. And when you take a few quid off Paddy Power it’s even better. You hear me Paddy?
The Stewart Family Thank You Gold Cup is the feature race on Saturday and marks the return of JOHNS SPIRIT (2.25) who stole Paddy’s cash in the Paddy Power Gold Cup last month.
That was a fine effort and although he’s been given a 9lb penalty I think he’s got every chance of going in again.
This is a double that is rarely achieved – only three horses have done so – but I strongly believe Johns Spirit was value for an easier success than his win in the Paddy Power suggested. He idled once he got clear and if he’s held up for longer he can score a famous double.
Also have a few quid on SEW ON TARGET at around 16/1. He was beaten 4 1/2l by Johns Spirit on October 19 and is now 16lb better off!
It’s hard to have a bet in the International Hurdle – The New One and Zarkandar (3.15) are clear on ratings and a forecast in that order is the best suggestion.
Chaser in form
At Doncaster, I like the look of CARRIGMORNA KING (3.15). He ran well against Tatenen last time and prior to that had scored well at Wincanton. He’s off a mark of 133 now, but has been higher in his time and seems a chaser in form.
So, it’s another weekend of top racing – another weekend we can leave Paddy in misery. Yeeehaaaa!
