Punting Hall of Fame: Liverpool and Luis Suarez help Paddy Power customer to £30,000 in Sunday scorecast coup

It's the stuff dreams are made of. Unless you're AVB, of course...

by Paul Mallon | December 15, 2013

We expected Steve Clarke to hog the sacking headlines all weekend. But Andre Villas-Boas is a man under severe pressure on Monday morning after Liverpool thumped Spurs 5-0 at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

One Paddy Power online customer will have no such Monday morning blues. He stuck £30 on Liverpool to win 5-0 and Luis Suarez to score the first goal, at odds of 1,000/1. Now, usually someone predicting a 5-0 away win at Tottenham would enter our Stupid Punt collection.

However, this is Spurs after all and Suarez is hotter right now than Kate Upton drinking a pint of Guinness. So there’s only one place for weapons-grade-punting like this — Paddy Power’s Punting Hall of Fame.

The UK-based customer placed the bet with Paddy Power at 15.52 on Sunday and watched as the goals rolled past hapless Hugo Lloris in London before his bet was settled just after 6pm.

The boss of Paddy Power’s Online Sportsbook, who’s a long-suffering Spurs fan, had the grim task of notifying the Paddy Power Blog and @paddypower to break the news. Sorry, gaffer.

The customer wasn’t alone, but his punt was the biggest winner. In total, seven Paddy Power customers had Suarez and 5-0, including one Dublin customer who had a fiver on.

Our big winner also had £30 on the correct score at 375/1 to win £11,280.

Take the morning off, fella.
